Tommy x Lewis is a collaboration between Tommy Hilfiger and Lewis Hamilton showcasing Hamilton’s
unique personality.
The goal was to create a mobile ad celebrating both artists in a fun and edgy
way.
We had a few
challenges:
- How could I create a dynamic motion design from several static images?
- How could I make sure that the design matched the look and feel of the company’s other ads
running simultaneously on different platforms?
- How do I ensure that Hamilton's PR team approves it on the first go?
Our
approach was to identify the mood and feel of the campaign, the color elements
that made it unique,
and graphic assets that set the collection apart from other Tommy Hilfiger collections.
I requested access to all existing ad materials which allowed me to utilize billboards, magazine
covers, and video. I isolated the elements and color palettes that were not in the Tommy Hilfiger
original brand guidelines to make certain there was a cohesive throughline, as well as harnessing
Lewis Hamilton's persona. The last touch was to add syncopated animations to tie in the rest of the
campaign's edgy feel.
Plus, Lewis Hamilton's PR team loved it. Win win!
