Drac doesn’t say "blah, blah, blah", or does he?
Collaborating with the Sony marketing team was a blast! When both creative and marketing love an IP,
magical stuff happens (or should I say spooky)?
The goal was to make super fun interactive video bugs and end cards that ran
throughout June, leading up to the movie release.
We were tasked with creating multiple unique assets based on current events, including Independence
Day and the 2018 FIFA World Cup. Sony Animation Studios provided all of the movie characters for us
to use. Now the challenge was to find a way to use them creatively.
I had a whole arsenal of pre-animated assets of which to take advantage, and in some cases we even
received audio tracks.
The approach was straightforward; we knew it had to be fun. We were in a unique
position to really
flex our creativity using these assets and have a great time while doing it.
I started by creating custom animations by combining and looping the baked animations, and then
animating static assets to create the messaging and CTAs. The end result was on-point and our client
ended up going live with all the bugs and end cards we had created for them.
I guess humans and creative monsters can coexist after all 👻.
